Sawing and Hacksaw blade

 Sawing

Sawing is done to cut off metals. Sawing can be done manually or by machine called power hack saw. 
The tool used is a hacksaw with a saw fixed tightly on a frame. Sawing is performed with a back and forth stroke and applying pressure in the forward stroke only. Sawing can be done on all metals except hard materials.

Hacksaw consists of a frame and blade as shown in figure.

Hacksaw frame consist of  frame, handle, prongs, tightening screw and wing nut. The frame may be solid or adjustable to accommodate blades of different length.

Hacksaw blade

Hacksaw blades are made out of high carbon steel(HCS), high speed steel(HSS) or low alloy steel.

It may be all hard type or soft back with hard cutting teeth. Soft back blades are flexible and suitable for unskilled workers or where the work is inconveniently placed.
