Base
Base is rigidly mounted on the floor. It is made of cast iron and designed to withstand heavy load and vibration.
Column
The column is the casting mounted upon the base. It encloses the ram driving mechanism. The ram reciprocate on the guideways provided on the top of the column. The front vertical face of the column serve as the guideways for the cross rail.
Cross rail
The cross rail is mounted on the front vertical face of the column and can be moved up and down by rotating the elevating screw by a handle.
The front of the cross rail is provided with two parallel guideways over which the table can be moved in a crosswise direction.
Table
It is a box like casting having T-slots on its top and sides for clamping the work. It is supported at its front end by a table support.
Ram
Ram is the rigid reciprocating member of the shaper which slides on the guideways on the top of the column and is connected to the crank mechanism contained within the column.
Tool head
The tool head hold the tool rigidly. It can be moved up and down by rotating the down feed hand wheel to give depth of cut. It can be swivelled at an angle to set the tool at different angles. The clapper block and clapper box is fitted in front of the tool head to get the tool to have an automatic relief during the return stroke.
