Purpose of cutting fluid

 Cutting fluids are used for the following purposes:

1. To cool the tool
2. To cool the work piece 
3. To lubricate and reduce friction
4. To improve surface finish
5. To protect the finished surface from corrosion
6. To cause the chips break into small chips
7. To wash the chip away from the tool
