Set of teeth in hacksaw blade

The teeth of the blades are bent towards the sides to cut a wide groove and provide clearance for the blade to prevent binding. This arrangement is called set of teeth.


3 types of set of teeth used in hacksaw blades are:
Standard raker set, wavy set and alternate set.

Raker set
In this method, one tooth is set to the right, one tooth to the left and one tooth keep unset as shown in figure.


Wavy set
In this method every two or three consecutive teeth are bent to the opposite sides.
